The history of the temple is unknown and it can be dated only by its architectural style, identical to Angkor Wat, so scholars assumed it was built during the reign of king Suryavarman II in the early 12th century. Smaller in size than Angkor Wat, the king's main monument, Beng Mealea nonetheless ranks among the Khmer empire's larger temples: the gallery which forms the outer enclosure of the temple is 181 m by 152 m. Be ready to spend an half of day in transit on the way there and back, and spend a few hours exploring the beauty of temple and surrounding environments.To avoiding the traffic jam in town, You must leave early from the town and can be back in Siem Reap for a late lunch. and It's might little be uncomfortable to take a tuk tuk out to Prasat Beng Mealea. But it's possible and you have to be ready with dust along the way to the temple or maybe you can take a good nap on the Tuk Tuk before you get there.
